Teen Shot After Confronting Vehicle Break-In Suspects at After-Prom Party

On April 14, 2024, at approximately 12:28 am, law enforcement officers were dispatched to respond to a shooting incident at 991 Moreland Dr SE in the Custer/McDonough Guice area. Upon reaching the scene, they discovered that a male victim had been privately transported to Grady Hospital. The victim, an 18-year-old male, was reported to be in stable condition.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the victim had attended an after-prom party at an Airbnb. During the party, he encountered three individuals wearing ski masks who were attempting to break into vehicles. The victim confronted them, resulting in him being shot.

Investigators have spoken with the victim at Grady Hospital, but the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
