GBI Investigates Fitzgerald Shooting Incident Leaving Man Critically Injured

In response to a request from the Fitzgerald Police Department, agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) are conducting an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred in Fitzgerald, Georgia.

According to reports, on Friday, April 12, 2024, the Fitzgerald Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired in the vicinity of East Pine Street. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a man who had sustained gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) immediately transported the injured individual to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.

Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Cordele Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. 

UPDATE: The victim, Terrance Shelton, age 33, of Fitzgerald, GA, died on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at about 3:00 a.m.
