Atlanta Police Respond to Shooting, Suspect Found Dead in Apparent Suicide

On April 9, 2024, at approximately 12:50 p.m., Atlanta Police officers responded to reports of a shooting at an auto repair shop located at 2171 Piedmont Rd NE in the Lindbergh/Morosgo area. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Grady EMS arrived and transported the victim to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Officers at the scene gathered information about the suspect vehicle, described as a dark-colored SUV, and shared its direction of travel with units across the city and multi-jurisdictional teams. While on duty, officers from the A.C.E. Unit, along with G.S.P. units, located the suspect vehicle on Jonesboro Rd. SE near Midway St. SE.

As officers approached the vehicle to conduct a traffic stop, they found the male suspect driver with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was unresponsive and declared deceased by medical personnel at the scene.
