Shooting at Riverview Hotel: Man Shot Trying to Enter Parked Vehicle, Occupant Fires from Inside

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting incident that took place within the 200 block of Broadway. The incident was reported to the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 3:01 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Deputies rushed to the Riverview Hotel at 205 Broadway following a report of a person shot. According to reports, an unidentified male was attempting to enter a parked Mercedes sedan when he was shot by someone inside the vehicle who was asleep at the time.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found a 36-year-old male lying on Broadway with a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as Eric Ivan Searcy-Bryson of Macon, was unresponsive and was immediately attended to by paramedics. He was subsequently transported to Atrium Health Navicent for medical treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries, as confirmed by medical staff. Next of kin has been notified, according to Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley.

No other injuries were reported in connection with this incident.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the case.
