Man Arrested Following Violent Group Attack on Photographer Outside Savannah Bar
Jamari Stephen Taylor, a resident of Savannah, was apprehended on March 12, 2024, in connection with a brutal group assault on a male photographer outside Octane Bar on Whitaker Street near W Congress Lane in Savannah. Taylor now faces charges of felony aggravated assault and felony aggravated battery.
The incident unfolded when a Savannah Police officer responded to a distress call regarding an unconscious male bleeding from the mouth. Upon arrival, the officer found the victim lying on the pavement, receiving assistance from a witness. The victim displayed knots and lacerations on his forehead, with blood covering his face and head.
According to a witness at the scene, the victim, identified as an event photographer, was capturing images of females outside the bar when a group of males confronted him about his actions. The confrontation escalated into a violent assault, with approximately 10 men punching and kicking the victim in the face and head. Following the attack, the assailants fled the scene, leaving the victim unresponsive.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded and transported the victim to Memorial Hospital, where medical personnel assessed him to have sustained significant head injuries. Reports from the hospital indicated that the victim remained unconscious and required ventilation in the trauma unit.
In an effort to aid the ongoing investigation, law enforcement officers contacted Octane Bar to request any available security footage of the incident.
Despite the severity of his injuries, the victim is expected to recover.
Authorities anticipate making further arrests in connection with this case as the investigation progresses.
