Motorcyclist Dead in Macon Crash at Intersection of Columbus Road and Cavalier Drive

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a tragic traffic collision that took place at the intersection of Columbus Road and Cavalier Drive in Macon, GA. The incident occurred on Monday, March 25, 2024, at approximately 5:39 p.m., as reported by the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center.
According to initial reports, a motorcyclist traveling west on Columbus Road collided with a BMW X3 being driven by an individual turning onto Columbus Road from Cavalier Drive.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the injured motorcyclist was transported to Atrium Navicent Healthcare for treatment. The motorcyclist has been identified as 49-year-old Willard Owen Gilbow from Macon. Despite medical efforts, Gilbow succumbed to his injuries, as confirmed by Coroner Leon Jones. No other injuries were reported in connection with the collision.
