Teen Fatally Shot at Columbus Hotel: Police Investigate

Early Sunday morning, on March 24, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 5400 block of Whittlesey Blvd, specifically at the Springhill Suites.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of a young male identified as Dennie Henderson, aged 16. Despite the efforts of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to revive him, Henderson succumbed to his injuries sustained from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

Deputy Coroner Elizabeth Allison arrived at the scene and officially pronounced Henderson deceased at 4:54 a.m. The tragic incident prompted the involvement of the Violent Crimes Unit, highlighting the severity of the situation. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding Henderson’s death are ongoing.
