Two Arrested After High-Speed Chase in Macon

On March 14, 2024, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Interdiction Unit deputies conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Focus positioned in the middle of Grant Avenue. Upon the deputies’ approach, the driver accelerated, driving recklessly, until being stopped on Walnut Street. The driver attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended, and the passenger was arrested while trying to escape from the vehicle.

The driver, identified as 22-year-old Jamarcus Lanard Smith of Macon, was wanted for aggravated assault, with two firearms discovered inside the vehicle. Both Smith and the passenger, identified as 22-year-old Isiah Hollingshed of Macon, were transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center without further incident.

Smith faces charges of aggravated assault (open warrant), possession of a firearm during the commission of felonies, and fleeing to elude a police officer. Hollingshed is charged with attempting to elude a police officer.
