One Dead in Fatal Crash on Broadway in Macon, BCSO Investigating

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a fatal single-vehicle traffic accident that occurred near the intersection of Broadway and Houston Avenue. The incident was reported to the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 1:32 a.m. on Thursday.

According to reports, a motorist was traveling southbound on Broadway in a silver Nissan Altima when they lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the roadway, striking a utility pole before coming to a halt. Deputies arrived at the scene to find the motorist, identified as 30-year-old Dmondo Eugene Simmons, unresponsive. Despite medical attention provided on-site, Simmons succumbed to his injuries. No other individuals were involved in the accident.

Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley pronounced Simmons deceased at the scene, and next of kin have been notified.

The intersection of Houston Avenue and Broadway remains closed as authorities work to complete necessary repairs. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
