In a distressing turn of events, Columbus Police Officers responded to a call regarding child abuse on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. The incident unfolded in the 3300 block of Hal’s Way in Columbus, GA.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered that a 2-month-old baby boy had been rushed to Martin Army Community Hospital by his parents after becoming unresponsive. Additionally, two other children in the household, a 2-month-old twin girl and a 2-year-old boy, were assessed by emergency medical services (EMS) and taken to Piedmont Medical Center. The 2-year-old boy was later discharged, but the twins required further medical attention and were admitted to a nearby children’s hospital.

The severity of the injuries sustained by the twins under their parents’ care led to the issuance of warrants for both parents, Scott Sartin, 26, and Jada Sartin, 24. The charges against them include two counts each of Aggravated Battery Family Violence, Cruelty to Children Family Violence in the 1st Degree, and Cruelty to Children Family Violence in the 2nd Degree.

Scott and Jada Sartin were apprehended without incident on March 7, 2024, and taken into custody as per the warrants issued.
