Demonstrator Arrested After Chaining Himself to Elevator Shaft in Atlanta
In the early hours of this morning, Atlanta Police officers responded to a call concerning multiple demonstrators at 1421 Peachtree St. NE. Upon arrival, officers found a male individual who had chained and duct-taped himself to an elevator shaft inside a building currently under construction.
Various units, including APD Homeland Security Investigators, Atlanta Fire Rescue, and Zone 5 Units, arrived on the scene. With the assistance of Atlanta Fire Rescue, the officers successfully removed the individual from the device without any incidents.
The suspect has been identified as Michael Czajkowski. Following the rescue operation, Czajkowski was taken into custody and transported to 200 Ted Turner, where officers will proceed to swear out arrest warrants for obstruction and criminal trespassing.
The motive behind Mr. Czajkowski’s actions remains undisclosed at this time.
