Macon Mental Health Matters Hosts Wellness Weekend to Prioritize Mental Well-being

Macon Mental Health Matters (MMHM) is gearing up to host its next Wellness Weekend, offering a three-day opportunity for individuals to prioritize their mental well-being.

Kicking off the event on Friday, March 8, at 6:00 p.m., is Yoga in the Plaza, taking place at Cotton Avenue Plaza, situated at the intersection of Cotton Avenue and Second Street. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own yoga mats, although some will be available onsite. In the event of rain, the yoga session will be relocated to the McEachern Art Center located at 332 Second Street.

On Saturday, March 9, the festivities continue with the Pop-Up Gym event, hosted at the L.H. Williams Community Center on 325 Pursley Street. Rain or shine, the event will run from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in various activities, including consulting with licensed therapists, practicing yoga and meditation, participating in a drum circle, receiving free produce from the Melanated Community Stimulation Project, and more. The event is open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

Wrapping up the weekend on Sunday, March 10, is the Healing Hike starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park, located at 1207 Emery Hwy. This tranquil hike offers attendees the chance to walk at their own pace, clear their minds, and engage in conversations with mental health professionals, if needed.
