Tywahnn Tillmann

On February 15, 2024, the United States Marshals Service (USMS) Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) and Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (GLRFTF), along with the Peoria Police Department, successfully apprehended a wanted suspect for first-degree murder.

Tywahnn Tillman, aged 36, was sought in connection to the fatal shooting of a security guard at a gentlemen’s club in Peoria, Illinois, on October 23, 2023.

The altercation leading to the shooting began when Tillman and others were involved in a dispute with patrons, prompting security personnel to intervene. A physical confrontation ensued between Tillman and a member of the security staff. Subsequently, surveillance footage captured Tillman leaving the establishment, retrieving a firearm from a vehicle, and then returning to the club to fatally shoot the security guard before fleeing.

Following investigations by the GLRFTF, it was discovered that Tillman had fled Illinois and traveled to Georgia. Subsequently, the assistance of the SERFTF was enlisted to track down the suspect.

Based on gathered intelligence indicating Tillman’s presence in Kennesaw, Georgia, SERFTF investigators secured a search warrant for a residence on Kennesaw Station Drive. Tillman was found inside the residence and subsequently taken into custody.

Tillman is now detained at Cobb County Jail awaiting extradition to Illinois to face charges related to the murder.

The USMS GLRFTF, operating since June 2003, maintains partnership agreements with over 93 federal, state, and local agencies across Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. With a track record of apprehending more than 117,000 fugitives, the GLRFTF remains committed to enhancing community safety.

Similarly, the USMS SERFTF, established in June 2003, collaborates with over 46 federal, state, and local agencies throughout Georgia. Having apprehended more than 44,000 fugitives, the SERFTF continues its efforts to ensure the safety of communities in the region.
