U.S. Marshals Capture Wanted Man from Clayton County in Atlanta Raid

On February 1, 2024, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF), working alongside the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, successfully located and apprehended Garon Turner, 28, who was wanted by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office for aggravated assault and brandishing a firearm.

Turner was sought in connection with an incident on December 20, 2023, where he allegedly assaulted a police officer during a traffic stop on Upper Riverdale Road in Jonesboro, Georgia. According to reports, Turner pushed the officer and brandished a firearm before fleeing the scene on foot. Law enforcement officers recovered a Glock 27 firearm with an auto sear switch, which allows for full automatic firing, along with Ecstasy pills.

In addition to the initial charges, Turner faces further accusations of possession of an illegal firearm, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and narcotics trafficking.

Investigators from SERFTF tracked Turner’s movements across Clayton, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties, surveilling multiple locations associated with his known relatives and acquaintances. Ultimately, they determined Turner was residing with his girlfriend on Hayes Street NW in Atlanta, Georgia, at the home of a known associate.

To effect his arrest, SERFTF collaborated with Fulton County SWAT to secure a search warrant for the residence. Turner was apprehended without incident during the execution of the warrant and subsequently transported to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
