Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies made arrests on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, in connection with the murder of a one-year-old child. 19-year-old Akiem Jamal Jordan, the father of the baby, was arrested alongside 20-year-old Raheem Devar Ferrell. Jordan had previously been arrested in April 2023 for stabbing the infant’s mother.

The recent incident involved Jordan going to his girlfriend’s residence around midnight, assaulting her mother, and taking the child, Bella Jordan. Deputies located Jordan, Ferrell, and the deceased baby at 3:03 AM, seven miles away.

Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley revealed that Bella had been stabbed and beaten. Jordan faces charges of murder and three counts of aggravated assault, while Ferrell faces charges of murder and two counts of aggravated assault. Both are detained without bond.

Law enforcement responded to a disturbance at the girlfriend’s home, finding her injured from a physical altercation. She informed deputies that Jordan, the baby’s father, had taken the child after assaulting her. She was taken to a medical facility for treatment.

After authorities issued a BOLO, they located a vehicle on Old Clinton Road, where they found the deceased child in Jordan’s possession. Deputy Coroner Miley pronounced her dead on the scene, with an autopsy pending.

The previous crime involving Jordan occurred in April 2023 when he stabbed the baby’s mother multiple times. The victim recounted the attack, stating Jordan assaulted her with a dagger after learning she had been dating someone else during their break. She managed to escape to Jordan’s house for help, where deputies arrested him.

The District Attorney, Anita R. Howard, confirmed that the cases are pending in court.
