One-Year-Old Child Found Deceased in Macon, Father Arrested

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigated an incident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of a one-year-old child and injuries to another individual.

Deputies initially responded to a disturbance call at around 12:05 a.m. in the 3800 block of Flamingo Drive in Macon, Georgia.

Upon arrival, they found Janet Dorn, who had sustained injuries from a violent altercation. Dorn’s daughter, Shandrea Spencer, had called to report the incident. Dorn reported that her daughter’s child had been taken by the man who assaulted her. Emergency medical services treated Dorn at the scene before she was transported to a medical facility for further treatment.

At 3:03 a.m., deputies located the suspected vehicle in the 2000 block of Old Clinton Road. Inside the vehicle, they found the one-year-old child unresponsive in the arms of her father. Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley pronounced the child deceased at the scene.

Two persons of interest were identified and taken into custody for further investigation. They were later identified as 19-year-old Akiem Jamal Jordan, the father of the deceased child, and 20-year-old Rahem Devar Ferrell.

Following interrogation, Rahem Devar Ferrell was charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault. Akiem Jamal Jordan faces charges of murder in connection with his daughter’s death and three counts of aggravated assault. Both are being held without bond at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Janet Dorn is currently listed in stable condition.
