Gwinnett County Police Investigate Murder-Suicide After Welfare Check
Gwinnett County Police Department is currently investigating an incident that unfolded as a murder-suicide, resulting in the loss of two lives.
On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, just past 11:30 a.m., officers from the East Precinct rushed to a residence on Sterling Drive in unincorporated Lawrenceville following a welfare check call. The call originated from a concerned family member residing outside of Gwinnett County, who reported being unable to reach the individuals inside the home.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officials observed at least one person on the ground within the residence. Immediate action was taken as officers entered the premises and called for medical assistance for two individuals. Despite efforts made, it was confirmed by the Fire Department that both individuals were deceased.
The nature of the incident suggests a domestic-related occurrence, leading investigators to treat it as a potential murder-suicide case. The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office as the investigation progresses.
