Woman Arrested in Connection to Montpelier Avenue Shooting Death

Investigators arrested April Powell, 43, of Savannah, on February 15, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in connection to the death of Ernestine Frye on February 14, 2024. Powell was taken from Investigation Headquarters to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and faces a charge of Murder with no bond set.

The incident occurred on February 14, 2024, at 6:10 p.m., when deputies responded to a call reporting a person shot at a residence on Montpelier Avenue.

Upon arrival, they found a 49-year-old female victim with a single gunshot wound. Paramedics transported the victim, identified as Ernestine Frye, to Atrium Health Navicent, where she was pronounced deceased by Coroner Leon Jones.
