Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Fatal Shooting on Jeffersonville Road in Macon

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that occurred near the intersection of Jeffersonville Road and Roseview Drive, just before 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024.

According to reports from the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center, a call was received at 4:47 p.m. alerting authorities to shots fired in the area. Deputies promptly responded to the scene and found a twenty-five-year-old male, identified as Cortavius Hassan Ates, suffering from a gunshot wound. Ates was pronounced deceased at the scene by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley. The next of kin has been notified.

At present, there is no information on suspects. Investigations by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office are ongoing, with officials working to determine the events leading up to the shooting.
