Shooting Incident at Porterdale Bar and Grill Results in Fatality

On July 27, 2024, between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., the Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) received a request from the Porterdale Police Department to investigate a shooting incident at Porterdale Bar and Grill.

Following the initial investigation, Newton County investigators identified the victim as Kyle Fowler, age 68, of Covington. Fowler succumbed to his injuries on July 28, 2024.

The NCSO arrested William Brown, age 34, of McDonough. Brown has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault, murder, and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain crimes.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been disclosed at this time. Sheriff Ezell Brown and the NCSO have expressed their gratitude to the City of Porterdale Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.
