Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Fayetteville, Police Seek Witnesses

Fayetteville Police responded to a tragic incident on Thursday, July 4, 2024, around 10:44 p.m., where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle near Stonewall Avenue W and Heritage Park Way. The pedestrian, identified as 35-year-old William Grigsby of Augusta, Georgia, was immediately transported to Piedmont Fayette Hospital for treatment. Despite efforts to save him, Mr. Grigsby succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, July 6, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that Mr. Grigsby was walking east in the center eastbound lane of W Stonewall Avenue when the collision occurred. The driver of the vehicle involved in the incident remained at the scene.

The Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement and Accident Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
