Woman Arrested for Murder in Conyers, Verbal Altercation Lead to Shooting

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, at approximately 12:44 AM, Rockdale County Deputies responded to a report of a person shot in the 2600 block of Golfview Terrace in Conyers. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that 24-year-old Kyla Cooper had been fatally shot.

Detectives believe the shooting occurred following a verbal altercation between Kyla Cooper and 25-year-old Arkia Nade Tate of Jonesboro. Tate was arrested and is facing charges of Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a felony. She is described as a 5’3″, 135 lbs, black female.

A second individual, 31-year-old Rashad Ashton Thompson of Covington, was also arrested at the scene on unrelated charges. Thompson faces charges related to drugs, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and two open warrants.

The incident is currently under investigation.
