Perry Sadie Heights Flood Project Phase 2 Goes to LeClay Construction

PERRY, Georgia – The City of Perry has moved ahead with Phase 2 of the Sadie Heights/Stonegate Trail flood mitigation project, hiring LeClay Construction to build the next stage of work meant to reduce flooding in both neighborhoods.

The Perry Mayor and City Council recently awarded the Phase 2 construction contract. City officials expect substantial completion by late spring or early summer 2027, weather permitting.

Once finished, the project is expected to lower flood levels and place all homes in Sadie Heights and Stonegate above the 100-year flood level. The city said occasional flooding may still occur during larger storms.

Design chosen after review

The city evaluated potential solutions before settling on a design. According to the city, the chosen design maximizes flood-level reductions while meeting environmental permitting requirements.

Phase 1 replaced culverts beneath Stonegate Trail. Crews substantially completed that work during summer 2026.

Construction schedule

Construction will generally take place Monday through Saturday, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

LeClay Construction will coordinate with affected property owners and homeowners’ associations. The company will provide information on construction schedules and safety measures.
