2 Killed, 35 Injured in Mass Shooting at Vienna Block Party in Dooly County, GBI Investigating

VIENNA, Ga. – Two young men were killed and 35 other people were injured when gunfire erupted during a neighborhood block party in Vienna early Sunday morning, Oct. 4, 2026, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The GBI identified the two victims killed in the shooting as Ja’Quavion Aderious Jackson, 21, of Cordele, and Macaleb Malik Jackson, 23, of Hawkinsville.

The 35 surviving victims suffered injuries ranging from stable to critical, authorities said.

According to preliminary information released by the GBI, the shooting occurred around 1:25 a.m. while Dooly County Sheriff’s Office deputies were patrolling a neighborhood block party.

Deputies heard gunfire coming from the 900 block of Pine Street in Vienna and immediately responded to the area.

When deputies arrived, they discovered multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds.

During their response, deputies also located two victims in the 600 block of Pine Street. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency responders transported the injured victims to several regional hospitals for treatment.

Authorities have not released the identities of the 35 injured victims or provided a breakdown of how many remain in critical condition.

GBI Investigating Deadly Block Party Shooting

The Dooly County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation following the shooting.

GBI agents are working to determine what led to the gunfire and identify those responsible.

Investigators have not announced any arrests, identified suspects or disclosed whether the shooting involved one or multiple gunmen.

Authorities also have not said whether the victims were specifically targeted or caught in the gunfire during the gathering.

The bodies of Ja’Quavion Jackson and Macaleb Jackson will be transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
