One Killed, Three Hospitalized in Wrong-Way I-75 Head-On Crash in Macon
MACON, Ga. — A 26-year-old woman was killed and three individuals were hospitalized late Saturday night following a wrong-way, head-on crash on Interstate 75, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Quintoriah Jones, 26, was pronounced deceased at the scene after driving northbound in the southbound lanes of I-75 and colliding head-on with an oncoming vehicle near Exit 160.
Wrong-Way Crash Closes Interstate 75
The Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center received reports of the two-vehicle collision just before 10:20 p.m. Saturday night. Responding deputies arrived on the scene near the Rocky Creek Road exit to find a severe crash involving a white Toyota Camry and a burgundy Ford Fusion.
According to witness accounts provided to investigators, Jones was driving the white Toyota Camry northbound in the southbound lanes of I-75 when her vehicle struck the southbound Ford Fusion head-on.
The impact forced emergency officials to shut down all southbound lanes on I-75 for approximately two hours. The roadway was reopened to traffic just after midnight following initial on-scene investigation and debris removal.
Hospitalization of Victims and Active Investigation
Paramedics responded to the scene and transported all three occupants of the Ford Fusion to a local medical facility for treatment:
- 38-year-old Male Driver: Transported and listed in stable condition.
- 40-year-old Female Passenger: Transported and listed in stable condition.
- 39-year-old Male Passenger: Transported and currently listed in critical condition.
Deputy Bibb County Coroner Lonnie Miley declared Jones deceased at the scene. Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones confirmed that her family has been notified.
