Macon Woman Arrested on 27 Warrants After Deputies Find Malnourished Dogs, Sheriff Says

MACON, Ga. – A 37-year-old woman wanted on 27 outstanding warrants was arrested after Bibb County deputies forced their way into a home where authorities said they found dogs tethered without adequate water or shelter and other animals living in unsanitary cages.

Yolanda Francois was taken into custody during the afternoon of Sept. 11 at a residence in the 5100 block of Log Cabin Drive.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, H.E.A.T. Unit Cpl. Dalton Palmer assisted Sgt. Reginald Tillman and Investigator Phillip Smith in attempting to arrest Francois.

The Sheriff’s Office described Francois as uncooperative and said deputies breached the home’s front door before taking her into custody.

Authorities said Francois was wanted on 27 warrants involving charges that included criminal trespass, property damage and animal cruelty. The Sheriff’s Office did not provide a complete breakdown of the warrants.

During the arrest, deputies found several dogs tethered without adequate water or shelter, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Some of the dogs were described as severely malnourished, while other animals were found confined in cages under unsanitary conditions.

Francois was booked into the Bibb County Jail. Her bond was set at $18,200, and she remained in custody.
