Man Arrested After Gunfire Strikes Two Liberty County Homes

WALTHOURVILLE, Ga. – A man has been arrested after investigators say multiple shots were fired into a Liberty County residence following an altercation, with bullets traveling through the home and striking a neighboring residence.

The shooting was reported at approximately 11:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, in the 5000 block of West Oglethorpe Highway.

Officers with the Walthourville Police Department and deputies with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office responded after 911 dispatchers received a report of shots being fired into a home. Liberty County Criminal Investigation Division detectives were also called to the scene.

Investigators determined the shooting followed a verbal altercation involving the victim and several individuals.

Authorities found that the residence had been struck by gunfire at least six times. Multiple rounds entered through the front door, while two bullets traveled completely through the residence and entered a neighboring home.

No injuries were reported in the information released by authorities.

Search Warrant Leads to Firearm and Arrest

After processing the shooting scene and collecting evidence, detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 500 block of Talmadge Road.

Investigators executed the warrant at approximately 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11.

During the search, detectives seized a firearm and other items believed to be connected to the investigation.

The investigation led authorities to arrest Ahmad Williams in connection with the shooting. He was transported to the Liberty County Jail.

Williams was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Criminal Damage to Property.

Authorities have not released additional information about the initial altercation or explained Williams’ alleged role in the dispute.

The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives said additional charges could be filed as evidence and other information are reviewed.
