Two Juveniles Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Crash in LaGrange

LAGRANGE, Ga. – Two juveniles were taken into custody Wednesday after leading officers on a brief pursuit in a stolen vehicle that ended with a crash, according to the LaGrange Police Department.

At approximately Aug. 5, officers were notified of a stolen vehicle in the Bell Street area.

Within 13 minutes, officers with the LaGrange Police Department, assisted by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, located the stolen vehicle using Flock automated license plate reader cameras positioned throughout the city.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle near Ragland Street and Woods Way by activating their emergency lights and sirens. Instead of stopping, the driver fled, prompting a vehicle pursuit.

Police said the pursuit ended a short time later when the driver lost control of the vehicle on Niles Street. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a fence.

The driver and passenger fled on foot but were quickly located and apprehended by LaGrange police officers at a nearby apartment complex.

Authorities said both suspects are juveniles.

No injuries were reported during the pursuit or arrests.

The recovered vehicle was returned to its owner.

The investigation remains ongoing.
