Suspected Serial Shoplifter Arrested, Linked to Bibb County Burglary and Multiple Retail Thefts
MACON, Ga. – A suspected serial shoplifter has been arrested and linked to a burglary and multiple retail theft investigations across Bibb County, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrested 23-year-old Kenyon Malik Clayton on Friday, July 31, after spotting him walking along Eisenhower Parkway near Bloomfield Road shortly after 10:15 a.m.
Authorities said Clayton was a suspect in several recent shoplifting incidents in the area. When deputies attempted to make contact, he fled on foot and ran into a nearby Krystal restaurant on Bloomfield Road, where he attempted to hide inside a restroom.
Deputies apprehended Clayton without further incident.
Following his arrest, Clayton was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division for questioning.
With assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and Kroger management, investigators linked Clayton to the burglary of Northern Tool & Equipment, located at 4755 Ivey Drive, as well as multiple shoplifting incidents at Kroger, Hibbett Sports and Home Depot at Eisenhower Crossing.
Clayton was booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center on the following charges:
- Two counts of Felony Theft by Shoplifting
- One count of Misdemeanor Theft by Shoplifting
- One count of Burglary in the Second Degree
He is being held without bond.
Investigators said the case remains active and additional charges are expected.
