Flock Cameras Help Deputies Capture Armed Drive-By Shooting Suspects in Less Than 12 Hours

LUMPKIN COUNTY, Ga. – Two suspects were taken into custody less than 12 hours after an alleged drive-by shooting, thanks to a coordinated response by multiple law enforcement agencies and the use of Flock Safety cameras, authorities said.

The investigation began on July 29 when the Hall County Sheriff’s Office contacted Lumpkin County Communications requesting assistance with an armed subject complaint at Stop by Foodmart No. 4.

According to authorities, Hall County deputies initially responded to reports of a possible drive-by shooting involving a red sport utility vehicle occupied by two white males.

Investigators said a firearm had reportedly been displayed from the vehicle, multiple shots were fired and the SUV fled toward Lumpkin County. The occupants were believed to be armed with a handgun.

Hall County deputies also reported that the vehicle had repeatedly driven past the convenience store before leaving the area and traveling toward Lumpkin County. Information about the vehicle and suspects was immediately shared with Lumpkin County deputies and surrounding law enforcement agencies.

Authorities later advised that the suspects were believed to be in the area of Post White Hill Road.

Lumpkin County deputies searched the reported travel routes but were unable to locate the vehicle during the initial response.

Investigators then learned that Flock Safety cameras had captured the suspect vehicle in the Pierces area, with multiple detections recorded over the previous two days.

At approximately 8:23 a.m. the following morning, Lumpkin County Communications received another Flock Safety camera alert indicating the vehicle had been detected again.

Deputies quickly located and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, taking the occupants into custody without further incident.

The sheriff’s office credited the swift arrests to the coordinated efforts of neighboring law enforcement agencies and the real-time intelligence provided by the Flock Safety camera network.

The investigation remains ongoing.
