17-Year-Old Charged with Murder in Fatal Shooting of 11-Year-Old Columbus Boy
COLUMBUS, Ga – A 17-year-old has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of an 11-year-old Columbus boy after turning himself in to police Friday, according to the Columbus Police Department.
Jordan King surrendered to investigators on July 10 in connection with the death of Kadin Harris.
King is charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18.
He is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, July 14, at 1:30 p.m.
The charges stem from a shooting that occurred at approximately 10:08 p.m. on July 8 in the 800 block of Apex Road.
Columbus police officers responded to reports of a shooting and found 11-year-old Kadin Harris suffering from gunshot wounds.
Harris was transported by EMS to Piedmont Columbus Regional, where he died from his injuries. An emergency room physician pronounced him dead at 10:49 p.m.
The Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation, which led to King’s arrest two days later.
The case remains under investigation.
