DeKalb County Gang Member Sentenced to 95 Years in Prison
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr announced that a DeKalb County judge has sentenced a convicted gang member to 95 years in prison for crimes committed in furtherance of a local criminal street gang.
A DeKalb County Superior Court judge sentenced 35-year-old Darius Scott on July 7, 2026, following his conviction on multiple gang and weapons charges.
Scott was found guilty by a DeKalb County jury on June 25 after a two-day trial. He was convicted of:
- Three counts of Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act
- Three counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- One count of Unlawful Possession of a Machine Gun
Prosecutors said Scott committed the offenses while acting on behalf of PDE, also known as Paradise East or Paper Drugs Extortion, a criminal street gang based in the Bouldercrest Road area of DeKalb County.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, PDE originated at the Paradise East apartment complex and traces its roots to the Sex Money Murder subset of the Bloods gang from New York. Members commonly use the moniker “4L” to identify their affiliation.
“As today’s sentencing shows, there’s no escaping justice,” Attorney General Chris Carr said. “If you continue to engage in violent crime, demonstrating a complete disregard for the safety of others, you will be charged and spend decades behind bars. This is exactly why we created our Gang Prosecution Unit, and we will keep fighting to take down PDE and any other criminal street gang in this state.”
Scott was one of three PDE members prosecuted in the case.
Jamerson McCamey, 22, of Atlanta, pleaded guilty in April 2026 to two counts of Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a First Offender Probationer. He was sentenced to 20 years, with the first 10 years to be served in prison and the remainder on strict probation.
Corey Dumas, 20, of Atlanta, pleaded guilty in January 2026 to two counts of Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act and one count of Possession of a Handgun by a Person Under the Age of 18 Years. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
Assistant Attorneys General Lee M. Stoy Jr. and McKenzie Gray prosecuted the case. The investigation was conducted by the DeKalb County Police Department and the Atlanta Police Department.
“Gang violence and organized criminal activity have no place in DeKalb County,” DeKalb County Police Chief Gregory Padrick said. “This conviction is the result of the outstanding work of DeKalb County Police detectives, the Attorney General’s Gang Prosecution Unit, and our law enforcement partners who worked tirelessly to build a strong case and hold these offenders accountable. We will continue to aggressively investigate gang-related crime and work alongside our partners to protect the communities we serve.”
Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum also praised the partnership between agencies.
“The Atlanta Police Department is committed to getting criminal street gangs off our streets and out of our neighborhoods,” Schierbaum said. “Anytime we stop illegal activities, especially those driven by criminal street gangs, it is a win for communities locally and nationally. The conviction of these individuals proves that the commitment to and effectiveness of our law enforcement and public safety partnerships are making a positive impact in our communities.”
