Blue Ridge Man Charged With Murder After Fatal Shooting at Fannin County Church
McCAYSVILLE, Ga. — A Blue Ridge man has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting at a church in Fannin County early Thursday morning, June 25th.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, 29-year-old Nicholas Rogers of Blue Ridge has been charged with Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault in connection with the death of 29-year-old Austin Teems.
Investigators said Fannin County 911 received a call during the early morning hours of June 25 reporting a shooting at Bethel Baptist Church in McCaysville.
When deputies with the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office arrived, they found Teems suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rogers was taken into custody at the church without incident.
The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to conduct the death investigation.
Teems’ body will be transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
Rogers was booked into the Fannin County Jail.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
