Pedestrian Killed in Early-Morning Crash on Pio Nono Avenue in Macon

MACON, Ga. — The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic collision that claimed the life of a pedestrian early Tuesday morning.

According to authorities, the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center received a call just before 4 a.m. on June 23, 2026, reporting a crash involving a pedestrian under the bridge on Pio Nono Avenue at the intersection of Glendale Avenue.

Investigators said a 40-year-old man driving a silver Kia Soul struck a 36-year-old male pedestrian who was crossing the roadway while wearing dark clothing.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the pedestrian unresponsive.

Paramedics responded and attempted to provide medical treatment, but the victim succumbed to his injuries. Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones’ office pronounced the man deceased at the scene.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Fatality Investigation Unit is leading the investigation into the collision.

Authorities said no charges have been filed at this time as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
