Major Drug Raid in Toccoa Uncovers Marijuana, Cocaine, Steroids and Firearm, One Arrested

TOCCOA, Ga. — A Stephens County drug trafficking investigation led to the seizure of narcotics, anabolic steroids, a firearm and cash, resulting in the arrest of a 49-year-old Toccoa man.

On the afternoon of June 16, 2026, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Unit, working alongside the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, executed a search warrant at a residence on Alban Court.

The investigation targeted Gilbert “Boo” Martin, who authorities said was suspected of distributing illegal narcotics and contraband in Stephens County.

At approximately 4:20 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge Charger near Craig Street and Alban Court. Martin was identified as a passenger in the vehicle and detained while investigators carried out the search warrant at his residence.

During the search, law enforcement officers recovered approximately six pounds of suspected marijuana, 10 grams of suspected cocaine, and about 8.2 ounces of suspected illegal anabolic steroids.

Investigators also seized multiple controlled substances, including various forms of amphetamines, alprazolam and oxycodone, along with a handgun and approximately $3,055 in cash.

Martin was arrested without incident and transported to the Stephens County Detention Center.

Authorities said a Stephens County magistrate judge set Martin’s bond at $195,000.

Martin faces numerous charges, including:

  • Possession of Marijuana (Felony)
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
  • Four counts of Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Criminal Attempt to Traffic Marijuana

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office said it remains committed to combating illegal narcotics trafficking and credited its partnership with the GBI Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office for the successful operation.

The investigation remains ongoing.
