Pedestrian Killed in Late-Night Crash on Hawkinsville Road in South Macon

MACON, Georgia – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred late Friday night in South Macon.

According to authorities, the crash happened in the 5000 block of Hawkinsville Road near the intersection of Kumho Parkway.

The Macon-Bibb E-911 received the call shortly after 11 p.m. on May 22.

Witnesses told investigators that a 58-year-old driver operating a blue Lexus struck a 25-year-old man who was crossing the roadway while wearing dark clothing.

Deputies arriving at the scene found the pedestrian unresponsive.

Paramedics attempted to provide medical treatment, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Investigators said the collision remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
