Former Ware County Jailer Arrested Following Inmate Use-of-Force Investigation

WAYCROSS, Georgia – A former jailer with the Ware County Sheriff’s Office has been arrested following an investigation into a reported use-of-force incident involving a female inmate at the Ware County Jail.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, 33-year-old Shacondra Ashley Minor of Ware County was charged with simple battery, cruelty to an inmate, and violation of oath of office.

Investigators said the Ware County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI investigate the incident on May 5. The investigation centered on an April 30 use-of-force incident involving jail staff and a female inmate inside the jail.

Authorities said the inmate suffered non-life-threatening injuries that did not require hospitalization.

Following the investigation, Minor was dismissed from her position with the sheriff’s office and later arrested, according to the GBI.

Minor was booked into the Ware County Jail.

Officials said the completed case file will be turned over to the Waycross District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
