Pedestrian Killed in Late-Night Crash on Pio Nono Avenue in Macon
MACON, Ga. — Authorities are investigating a fatal traffic collision involving a pedestrian Wednesday night in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 10:01 p.m. on April 15, 2026, at the intersection of Pio Nono Avenue and Ell Street.
Investigators said the driver of a white BMW sedan was traveling north on Pio Nono Avenue and moved into the center lane to avoid another vehicle turning right onto the roadway from Ell Street.
As the driver entered the center lane, the vehicle struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway and wearing dark clothing.
The victim, identified as 57-year-old James Milburn Evans Jr., was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
Authorities said the victim’s next of kin has been notified.
The crash remains under investigation.
