Suspect Arrested in Brookhaven Shooting, Linked to Additional Incidents

BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting early Monday morning at a shopping center in Brookhaven, police said.

Officers responded around 1:59 a.m. on April 13, 2026, to Cherokee Plaza on Peachtree Road after receiving reports of a person shot. When they arrived, they found a 49-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Investigators used the department’s Operation Plugged In Camera Network, along with coordinated law enforcement efforts, to identify the suspect as 26-year-old Olaolukitan Adon Abel of Atlanta.

Abel was taken into custody later that day in Troup County by the Georgia Department of Public Safety without incident.

Authorities said further investigation has linked Abel to additional shootings that occurred earlier in unincorporated DeKalb County.

The Brookhaven Police Department is working with DeKalb County police and state partners as the investigation continues.
