High-Speed Pursuit Ends With Arrest After Pit Maneuver, Narcotics Seized in DeKalb County
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A traffic encounter with a driver asleep behind the wheel early Friday morning, March 13th, led to a police pursuit and the seizure of narcotics and cash, according to the DeKalb County Police Department.
At about 2:19 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle stopped in the roadway with the driver asleep inside. When the officer activated emergency equipment to investigate, the driver sped away, initiating a pursuit.
Officers used a PIT maneuver to safely bring the pursuit to an end, causing the vehicle to spin and come to a stop.
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
Police said a large quantity of narcotics and cash was recovered from the vehicle.
The suspect was transported to jail. Authorities reported no injuries to officers or civilians and no property damage during the incident.
