Troup County Jail Inmate Found Unresponsive, Later Dies at Hospital

TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — An inmate at the Troup County Jail died Wednesday, March 11th, after being found unresponsive by jail staff during routine meal service, according to officials.

At approximately 8:29 a.m., jail staff discovered Montavious Rhodes, 44, unresponsive in the facility while conducting a routine meal pass. Jail medical personnel were immediately notified and began life saving measures.

Within minutes, the Troup County Fire Department and AMR arrived at the jail and took over medical care.

Rhodes was transported to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, where he later died.

Officials said the cause of death is unknown at this time. An autopsy will be conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to determine the cause and manner of death.

Authorities said no additional information is available at this time.
