Atlanta Police Arrest Man in 2024 Student Lofts Murder; Also Charged in Killing of U.S. Postal Worker

ATLANTA, Georgia – On February 17, 2026, the Atlanta Police Department took 24-year-old Nahjel Williams into custody in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred in 2024 at the Westmar Student Lofts.

The arrest stems from an investigation that began on August 1, 2024. At approximately 9:35 a.m. that day, Atlanta Police Zone 5 officers responded to reports of a person shot at the Westmar Student Lofts, located at 800 W. Marietta Street NW. Upon arrival, officers located a 24-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Williams has been charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony in connection with that incident.

Authorities also confirmed that Williams has been charged in DeKalb County with the murder of 31-year-old U.S. Postal Service worker Dequavious Graves.

The investigations into both cases remain ongoing.
