Young Woman Fatally Trapped in Conveyor Belt at Club Car Facility in Columbia County
A devastating incident occurred at the Club Car facility in Evans, Georgia, resulting in the loss of a young woman’s life. Alyssa Drinkard, a 21-year-old contract worker, was fatally entrapped in a conveyor belt on Friday night, according to reports from Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
Drinkard’s attempt to retrieve her dropped Air Pods led to the tragic accident. Surveillance footage obtained by authorities revealed the sequence of events, showing Drinkard crawling underneath the conveyor belt to retrieve her device before becoming ensnared.
Efforts by maintenance personnel to halt the machinery and extricate Drinkard unfortunately proved unsuccessful. Despite the prompt arrival of EMS and Fire services, Drinkard was pronounced dead later at Doctors Hospital.
Emergency responders managed to free Drinkard from the machinery by cutting the metal frame surrounding the conveyor belt. Despite initially having a pulse, Drinkard’s injuries proved fatal.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.
