Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested After Flock Camera Alert Leads Police to Acworth Hotel

ACWORTH, Georgia – An armed robbery suspect out of Atlanta was taken into custody in Acworth after technology and coordinated police work helped track down his vehicle.

On February 12, 2026, detectives with the Acworth Police Department Criminal Investigations Division received information from the Atlanta Police Department about an armed robbery that had occurred the day before.

Investigators learned through Flock Safety camera data that the suspect vehicle had been frequently observed traveling along Highway 92 in Cherokee County. That information was quickly shared with surrounding agencies and Acworth patrol officers.

While actively searching the area, Detective Camille located the suspect vehicle, a 2007 blue Hyundai Santa Fe, parked at the Best Western located at 5100 block of Cowan Road.

As detectives gathered additional information from hotel staff, the vehicle was seen leaving the parking lot. Officers were immediately alerted and conducted a high-risk traffic stop on Cowan Road near South Main Street.

The driver, identified as 19-year-old Joshua Johnson of Marietta, was safely detained at the scene. He was transported to the Acworth Police Department, where he was interviewed by Atlanta detectives and subsequently arrested by the Atlanta Police Department in connection with the armed robbery.

Acworth Police credited the arrest to the use of Flock Safety cameras and strong interagency cooperation. The department also commended Detective Camille for his proactive work in locating the suspect vehicle.
