Gang Member Sentenced to Life Without Parole in Norcross Motel Ambush That Killed Father of Three
Defendant: Dametris Bush

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A Gwinnett County jury has found a Marietta man guilty in the June 2025 ambush killing of 29-year-old Andre Sharron Jones Jr. at a Norcross motel, sentencing him to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus 40 years.

Prosecutors said on the evening of June 17, 2025, Dametris Dameon Bush, 34, and two other members of the Gangster Disciples went to the Horizon Inn and Suites off Dawson Boulevard intending to confront Jones, whom they believed had stolen a gun from a fellow gang member. Surveillance video showed Bush shooting Jones twice, striking him once in the chest. A woman who was not involved in the dispute was also shot in the leg during the incident.

Bush and another defendant fled the scene in a waiting vehicle. Detectives arrested Bush about a week after the shooting. A second suspect, 28-year-old Jaharri Foster of Stockbridge, was arrested several weeks later and charged with murder. His case remains pending.

Investigators examined claims that Jones had stolen a firearm, but prosecutors said Jones had no gang affiliation. Authorities said Bush and others believed he had disrespected them and carried out the shooting in retaliation.

Jones, a father of three, died from his injuries. His mother had previously told media outlets she did not want prosecutors to offer a plea deal to those responsible for her son’s death.

The jury convicted Bush of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, unlawful criminal gang activity, and multiple firearm offenses. He was sentenced to life without parole plus 40 years in prison.

The Gwinnett District Attorney’s Office said it remains committed to holding violent offenders accountable and protecting public safety.
