19-Year-Old Dies After Accidental Self-Inflicted Shooting in Bremen
HARALSON COUNTY, Georgia – A 19-year-old man has died after an accidental self-inflicted shooting at a residence on February 12, 2026, authorities said.
Deputies responded to the home after reports of a shooting that had already occurred. Upon arrival, Deputy Seth Entrekin and Sgt. Jarrett Chandler with the Crime Suppression Unit began rendering aid to Elijah Brackett, 19, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Emergency Medical Services arrived shortly after and took over his care.
Lieutenant Jason Bowman led the on-scene investigation. After reviewing witness statements and the evidence observed at the scene, deputies determined the shooting was accidental.
Brackett, of Bremen, Georgia, was transported by AirMed to Kennestone Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Sheriff Stacy Williams noted that the office has responded to multiple accidental shootings in recent years and emphasized the importance of firearm safety. The investigation remains closed as an accidental incident.
