Buena Vista Nurse Anesthetist Charged With Murder in Husband’s Shooting Death

MARION COUNTY, Georgia – 45-year-old Buena Vista nurse anesthetist has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of her husband following a domestic violence call in Marion County, authorities said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Amanda Jackson and charged her with Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Crimes in the death of Phillip Jackson, 58, a Buena Vista paramedic.

Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded January 31, 2026, to a domestic violence call involving the couple at a home on Georgia Highway 41. When deputies arrived, they found Phillip Jackson suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a hospital, where he died February 7.

Amanda Jackson was initially charged February 2 with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Crimes. After Phillip Jackson’s death, additional charges of Malice Murder and Felony Murder were filed February 9.

She was taken into custody at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office on February 9 without incident. This investigation is active and ongoing.
