Omayrilin Colon

ATLANTA, TX – A woman has been arrested and charged in the death of a 3-month-old child following a homicide investigation that began late last year, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

On Jan. 29, 2026, 37-year-old Omayrilin Colon was taken into custody in Forest Park, Georgia, with assistance from Clayton County authorities, Atlanta Police homicide investigators, and APD A.C.E. units. Colon was transported to Atlanta Police Public Safety Headquarters for processing and an interview before being booked into the Fulton County Jail. She faces pending charges of murder and cruelty to children.

The arrest stems from an incident reported on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, when officers responded around 10:45 p.m. to a person-down call at a residence on Perry Boulevard NW. Upon arrival, officers were told that a 3-month-old male was not breathing.

Grady EMS responded to the scene and transported the infant to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital. Homicide investigators were notified and responded to begin a preliminary investigation. On Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, medical personnel informed investigators that the child had been pronounced deceased.

In January 2026, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office contacted the Atlanta Police Department Homicide Unit and advised that toxicology results showed a high level of alcohol in the infant’s blood. Based on those findings, the medical examiner ruled the cause of death a homicide.

Following that determination, the case was officially classified as a homicide, and investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the child’s death and identify a suspect. The investigation led to Colon’s arrest.
