Woman Arrested Nearly a Year After Fatal Shooting in the Atlanta University Center Area
ATLANTA, Georgia – Atlanta police have announced an arrest in a homicide that occurred nearly ten months ago on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard SW in the Atlanta University Center.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, 47-year-old Tarika Shanta Hill of Atlanta was taken into custody on January 15, 2026, following an extensive investigation into the fatal shooting that occurred on March 30, 2025. Hill has been charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. She was transported to the Fulton County Jail for processing.
Police say the case was officially ruled a homicide after investigators continued to review evidence and follow leads in the months following the shooting. The arrest was made with assistance from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
The original incident unfolded on March 30, 2025, at approximately 3:57 p.m., when Atlanta Police Zone 1 officers responded to a report of a person shot at 110 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd. SW. When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Detectives with the APD Homicide Unit responded and worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police have not released the victim’s name or detailed information about the motive.
The investigation remains ongoing as the case moves forward through the court system.
