Carrollton Man Arrested After Deadly Hit-and-Run in Villa Rica
Mark Enriquez

CARROLL COUNTY, GA – A 24-year-old Carrollton man is in custody following a deadly hit-and-run that left a woman dead in a Villa Rica neighborhood early Sunday.

According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Villa Forest Lane on January 12, 2026, after reports that a vehicle had struck a person and fled the scene. When deputies arrived, they found 36-year-old Brittany Dutton of Carrollton lying in the roadway with severe injuries.

Investigators said Dutton suffered trauma to her lower extremities, an open head wound, and extensive road rash. She was transported to Tanner Health System–Villa Rica, where she later died from her injuries.

As the investigation unfolded, deputies determined that an altercation had taken place prior to the collision. Authorities say the suspect vehicle left the scene after striking Dutton and that efforts were made to conceal the vehicle following the incident.

Investigators continued working through the night and into the morning, eventually locating Mark Enriquez, 24, also of Carrollton. He was taken into custody without incident. Law enforcement officials said evidence connected to the case was recovered during the arrest.

Enriquez is now facing multiple charges, including homicide by vehicle, hit and run, aggravated assault, and reckless driving. The sheriff’s office noted that the investigation remains active and additional charges could be filed as detectives continue to review evidence and interview witnesses.

Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact Investigator Amber Cardell at 770-830-5916 or by email at acardell@carrollsheriffga.gov.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office asked the community to keep the victim’s family in their thoughts and prayers as they grieve the loss of a loved one.
